The knowledge of the invisibility of land mines is the terror creating part of these machines. A land mine that is unknown might still kill people but one that is known about creates a terror far beyond its impact as a weapon. If it is known that there are mines burried in the ground the whole area looses its innocence.
The pictures shown here all present minefields or areas that are heavily contaminated by unexploded ordnance.
